I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. Mine was quiet, which is a blessing these days.

I am not sure what is going on with my BLOG, but you cannot leave comments on my cards. My email account is not working either. Well this is a card that I created for my Mom for Mother's Day. I used Daisy from the Greeting Farms Stamps, and some MME DP I think it's called Tickled Pink. I colored Daisy in with my Copics. I always have a difficult time with blonde hair, but I like how this turned out -- it looks just like my mom's :)

I have been paper crafting for almost 5 years -- wow has it been that long?
I love my new Copic markers, 'cuz I have always loved to color.
As of July 6 of this year I have know my hubby for 20 years -- WOW
I have 2 sons. One that doesn't like me to mention him on this BLOG, and one that absolutely loves all the attention he can get. Yep he is the little one. Lately he wants everyone to call him "The Awesome One". He is too much.
I work for the Department of Treasury.
I don't like chocolate -- I know weird huh?
I can't go through a day without my Diet Coke.
I don't watch TV except on Family night.

WOW re-reading these things, I am really weird boring but weird-- or maybe I should say abnormal.

I now have a MacBook Pro. Boy is this a learning curve. I am having a terrible time getting my cards to upload to my BLOG. I hope these pictures are OK.

This card is for the sketch challenge this week at the Mojo Monday Blog. I figured that this little skater dude would go well with this sketch. Boy cards are so difficult. The card looks so plain, I want to add some bling or ribbon with a bow -- but boys don't like bows. So here is my plain jane boy card -- LOL.

This week's Featured Stamper is Neva. You can see here fabulous gallery here. Neva is the Queen of combining challenges. So in her honor I did a challenge combo for her CASE. I chose her card that you can see here.

My card is for the Featured Stamper Challenge, the Color Combo Challenge, the Sketch Challenge, and the Way to Use It Challenge (all for this past week). This week, I have been struggling with each of these challenges. I created a separate card for each challenge, but all of them ended up in the trash. Well today I saw the polka dot paper in Neva's card it made me think of the polka dot paper in the Cutie Pie DP -- and that's all it took. Thanks Neva you really inspired me!!!!! This is for the color challenge on SCS. The colors this week are Rose Red, Certainly Celery, and Marina Mist. I need a Sympathy card for tomorrow, so I thought I would do a quick card for the challenge.

I stamped the branch from the new Easter Blossoms set from the Mini with Staz On and then colored it in with my SU markers (rose, marina, and celery). I distressed each layer.

Hi Ladies,

Guess what I am the Featured Stamper on Splitcoast this week. Imagine that -- I am as surprised as you are. It's been a while. Life has been really crazy. I have created a few cards, but have not taken pictures, so sorry. I plan to upload a few and get back into blogging, but life just seems to get in the way. Between Football and Wrestling we have no time for anything else. The boys are not in any Spring sports, so maybe I can stamp.

So Last night I went on SCS to find some ideas for a Sympathy card, and I noticed that Beth had PMed me. I looked and it was a LONG post about Featured Stampers. So I looked at the challenge this week, and guess what it was me. GASP! I never dreamed that she would pick me -- insert BIG shocked face! I never think that others will like my cards, so this is so stunning. I haven't been on SCS in a while, so what are the chances that I would be on there on this particular day. I guess God works in mysterious ways.

So I am hoping that this will inspire me to BLOG more, keep your finger crossed!!

How to Kill Mosquitoes

We are back from our week long camping trip. I am soooooo pooped. I do not have the energy to create a card, and I am working from home today. I thought I would share another tidbit from my Dad. You may be aware of this, but I thought it was worth looking at again. I can't wait to try this!

How to Kill Mosquitoes - NOT A JOKE

The story: A Lady was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared. The next year she filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around her seat whenever she mosquitoes. Voila --it worked. It worked at a picnic where she sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, she doesn't leave home without it.

Comment from someone who tried this: I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of Bug-spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog house. It's EARTH FRIENDLY TOO!!

I am going to try this, I'll let you know if it works. If you try it let me know too.

I do have to admit, I had a rough time with this one. This is the 6 th card that I created. I finally decided to go with a simple card. I inked up my Vintage Wallpaper EF with Night of Navy craft ink, and then embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock with it. I love this effect, and I thought I would remind all of you about it. I colored the dots in with my Daffodil Delight tied my ribbon, attached my sentiment, and tada here is my card.

Party Favor Box

I am still camping -- hopefully this is Tuesday morning.

A few weeks ago the project on SCS was this all in one box. You can find the tutorial here. I decided to use the Welcome Home DP from the SAB catalog. I thought it would be a nice little box for my Real Estate friends. They could fill it up with little mints and give it to their clients.

This box uses one 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of card stock or DP. The entire box, lid included, is one piece. You just gently lift the lid and it opens up. Cute huh? I took several different pictures so you could see it better. Click on the picture to get a closer look.

I used the Elements of Style stamp set. I love this set, everyone should have it!! I stamped the swirl on vanilla card stock and then embossed it with the Square Lattice EF. I love this effect, it's so elegant. Then I stamped the flower, and then used a blender pen to add some basic grey to color the flowers. I sponged around everything with Crumb Cake. Don't you love this new color, it's great for distressing? I also tried the pleated ribbon treatment. This is my first time trying this, but I think I need to practice a little.

Sorry I haven't been around all week. We have been experiencing thunderstorms each evening. Unfortunately the storms have been knocking out the power. So no power no cards :o(. Then to top it off we are leaving today to go camping for the entire week. (Cross your fingers that I make it back.) I know my boys love camping, and it's a great way to spend quality time with the family, but I'm just not a camping person.

This card had a mind of its own. I started out with the Inspiration Challenge. Our inspiration site this week is Oompa. I was inspired by the little stuffed toy that you can see here. I think this little one is so cute, and I love the flower on her tummy. That flower made me think of the Elegant Bouquet EF. I have no idea how I went from that inspiration to this card but that’s what happened. I guess that’s why they call this an inspiration challenge. :o)

I combined the Inspiration Challenge with the CAS challenge -- to use dry embossing. I embossed the white layer with diagonal lines with my paper cutter/scorer, and then embossed it again with the Elegant Bouquet EF. I colored in the vines (certainly celery), flowers (daffodil delight), and flower centers (pretty in pink) with markers. I tied my ribbon, and I thought I was done. Then I remembered the Free 4 All challenge from Friday was to use something new. I just received these adhesive rhinestones, so I put them on the flower centers.

I decided to create a More is More card. I think that is what the Dirty Dozen calls it when you do more to a simple card. I created the red flower card on Monday (you can see it here). It is a CAS (clean and simple) card. Well I wanted to make it MORE, so I created this card. I loved my card on Monday, but I love this one more. Which one do you like better?

WOW -- count them -- 3 days in a row. I think I am on a roll, LOL.

This is for the color challenge on SCS today. Our colors are Rich Razzleberry, Baja Breeze, and So Saffron. Betty really does know how to pick great combos. I don't know how she does it. The dessert option is to use grids --so I used my textured embossing folder. I love this folder, you have to have it!!! It's for last weeks sketch challenge too.

I thought this color combo was more on the contemporary side, so I used my Awash with Flowers stamp set. It seems a little bare -- no embellies, but I wanted to keep it clean -- you know on the contempo side. The sentiment is from the new Level 3 Hostess set -- Occasional Quotes, it's fabulous.

CAS74 ~ Celebration

Yippee 2 days in a row with cards. I know you are thinking, "it's about time." Life has really gotten in the way of my stamping lately. Then throw in all the camping, and I am in withdrawal. Well the new caddie is out, so I am determined to try and get back to stamping every day!!

This card is for the CAS challenge today on SCS. We were to draw inspiration from this beautiful Wedding Cake site, you can see it here. Talk about inspiration, WOW. You could get tons of inspiration for all your elegant cards -- go take a peek. I chose the cake that you can see here. I love the black, white, and red color combo. I changed mine to Vanilla, Black and Red but you get the gist.

This is a new Hostess Level 1 stamp set from the new caddie. You are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this flower, I do. I also used the new Newsprint DP. I think this paper is so versatile, but it's especially great for vintage cards. I sponged around my image and on the DP with Blush Blossom. I usually use Creamy Caramel to "distress" my cards, but I am liking the blush blossom. What do you think?

I wish you Enough!

Another goodie from my Dad:

Recently I overheard a Father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the Father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'

The daughter replied, 'Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.'

They kissed and the daughter left. The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry.

I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'

'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'.

'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral, ‘he said.

'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.' May I ask what that means?

'He began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.' He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more.

'When we said, 'I wish you enough,'we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.'

Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how grey the day may appear.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good- bye.

He then began to cry and walked away. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them. Take Time To Live..

I am still camping -- We are there all week. I have set up several posts for you to see while I am gone. Some are cards, but some are "goodies" from my Dad. This one is really cute, hope you enjoy.

Children in Church

A little boy was attending his first wedding. After the service, his cousin asked him, "How many women can a man marry?"
"Sixteen," the boy responded.
His cousin was amazed that he had an answer so quickly. "How do you know that?"
"Easy," the little boy said. "All you have to do is add it up, like the pastor said, 4 better, 4 worse, 4 richer, 4 poorer!"
After a church service on Sunday morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his mother,"Mom, I've decided to become a minister when I grow up."
"That's okay with us, but what made you decide that?"
"Well," said the little boy, "I have to go to church on Sunday anyway, and I figure it will be more fun to stand up and yell, than to sit and listen!"A 6-year-old was overheard reciting the Lord's Prayer at a church service, "And forgive us our trash passes, as we forgive those who passed trash against us!"
A boy was watching his father, a pastor, write a sermon. "How do you know what to say?" he asked.
"Why, God tells me."
"Oh, then why do you keep crossing things out?"
A little girl became restless as the preacher's sermon dragged on and on. Finally, she leaned over to her mother and whispered, "Mommy, if we give him the money now, will he let us go?"
Ms. Terri asked her Sunday School class to draw pictures of their favorite Bible stories.
She was puzzled by Kyle's picture, which showed four people on an airplane, so she asked him which story it was meant to represent.
"The Flight to Egypt ," was his reply.
Pointing at each figure, Ms. Terri said, "That must be Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus. But who's the fourth person?"
"Oh, that's Pontius--the pilot!"
The Sunday School Teacher asks, "Now, Johnny, tell me frankly do you say prayers before eating?"
"No ma'am," little Johnny replies. I don't have to. My mom is a good cook!"
This is the best one!
A little girl was sitting on her Grandfather's lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again. Finally she spoke up, "Grandpa, did God make you?"
"Yes, sweetheart," he answered, "God made me a long time ago."
"Oh," she paused, "Grandpa, did God make me too?"
"Yes, indeed, honey," he said, "God made you just a little while ago."
Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it, isn't he?"

It's Sunday and that means I am camping -- boo hoo. It also means it is Paper Players Challenge day -- Yippee!! This week we are doing a Sketch challenge. The 3rd Sunday of every month will be a sketch challenge. Lesley came up with a fabulous sketch for us this week. I say fabulous, 'cuz it was SCREAMING for a puffy flower :o).

I really love these puffy flower (if you can't tell :o). I especially love the ones that I create with velumn paper. I always sponge a little ink on the edges, so they look soft and pretty. What do you think?

GEOGRAPHY FACTS

Alaska: More than half of the coastline of the entire United States is in Alaska.

I had a piece leftover from the DP that I created, so I decided to do another card with it. This is for the color challenge this week. I used a layout from the new caddie. It's on page 32.

Have you seen the new caddie? It's beautiful, well at least everyone else's is. I received my caddie yesterday, but I was so sad. You see it rained yesterday, and the UPS man left my caddie on my front step -- in the rain. I wish he had at least put it behind my storm door. All the pages were stuck together, so I had to peal them apart. Unfortunately some of them ripped as I separated them. Do you think SU will send me a new one?

Whew, it's been a while since I have been able to participate in the color and sketch challenges. The colors this week are Barely Banana, Mellow Moss, and Real Red -- great combo huh? I was going to create a Dad's day card 'cuz I need 2 more, but I thought these colors worked better with flowers. So a Mom card it is.

I created some more of my own DP. For the background layer, I stamped the swirl with mellow moss, sponges Barely Banana over it, and then embossed it with the texture folder. For the top layer, I stamped the flowers and colored them in, and then sponged over everything with barely banana. I am officially in love with the Elements of Style stamp set.

Paper Players Challenge #2 -- APP02

I am camping with the boys again. I think I am a glutton for punishment -- I really don't like camping. I keep telling myself that I am a good mommy to do this for my boys. I hope they appreciate it some day :o).

I set this post up on Friday before we left, so I hope it comes out OK. I set the links to go to the other "Player's" home page. I will fix them so they go to the actual card when we return home Sunday afternoon.

It's Sunday so that means that it's time again for the Paper Players Challenge. The second week of every month will be our Color Challenge.

Our Colors this week are Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue/Pacific Point, Old Olive, and Whisper White. Isn't this is great picture to grab some inspiration from? This picture was taken by one of Lesley friends.

Brandon (my 10yo) is graduating from 5 th grade on Monday. Yahoo!! He helped me design this card because he needs several Thank you cards. He loves a card that I created back in January using the Upsy Daisy stamp set, so he wanted to create a similar card. We colored the stamp in with markers, spritzed it with water, and then stamped it on the card stock. It really looks like a watercolor painting when you use this technique. My "Designer Paper" is created with the vine stamp from Vintage Vogue and the Texture Embossing Folder -- pretty isn't it?

Stories from Grandparents:

1. She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter, as she'd done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, "But Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!" I will probably never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet paper good-bye.

2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, 62. My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked,”Did you start at 1?"

3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice,"Who was THAT?"

4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like: "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire, it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods." The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!"

5. My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo and I said, "No, how are we alike?''....... "You're both old," he replied.

6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story. "What's it about?" he asked."I don't know," she replied. "I can't read."

7. I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these, yourself!"

8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, "It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights."

9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, "I'm not sure..." "Look in your underwear, Grandpa," he advised, "mine says I'm 4 to 6."

10. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, "Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today." The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool.. "That's interesting," she said, ”how do you make babies?" "It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'."

11. Children's Logic: "Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote:"The fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked. "Sure," said the young boy confidently. "It means carrying a child."

12. A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day when a fire truck zoomed past.Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties."They use him to keep crowds back," said one child."No," said another. "He's just for good luck." A third child brought the argument to a close. “They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrants."

13. A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived."Oh," he said, "she lives at the airport, and when we want her, we just go get her. Then, when we're done having her visit, we take her back to the airport."

14. Grandpa is the smartest man on earth! He teaches me good good things, but I don't get to see him enough to get as smart as him!

15. My Grandparents are funny, when they bend over you hear gas leaks, and they blame their dog.

Older Than Dirt

Here is another one from my Dad:

Someone asked the other day, “What was your favorite fast food when you were growing up?”
“We didn't have fast food when I was growing up,” I informed him.
“All the food was slow.” ”C'mon, seriously. Where did you eat?”
“It was a place called --at home,'' I explained! “Mom cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.”

By this time, the kid was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to have permission to leave the table.

But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I figured his system could have handled it:

Some parents NEVER owned their own house, never wore Levis, never set foot on a golf course, never traveled out of the country or had a credit card. In their later years they had something called a revolving charge card. The card was good only at Sears & Roebuck. There is no Roebuck anymore. Maybe he died.

My parents never drove me to soccer practice. This was mostly because we never had heard of soccer. I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only had one speed, (slow). We didn't have a television in our house until I was 19. It was, of course, black and white, and the station went off the air at midnight, after playing the national anthem and a poem about God; it came back on the air at about 6 a.m. and there was usually a locally produced news and farm show on, featuring local people.

I was 21 before I tasted my first pizza; it was called 'pizza pie.' When I bit into it, I burned the roof of my mouth and the cheese slid off, swung down, plastered itself against my chin and burned that, too. It's still the best pizza I ever had.

I never had a telephone in my room. The only phone in the house was in the living room and it was on a party line. Before you could dial, you had to listen and make sure some people you didn't know weren't already using the line. Pizzas were not delivered to our home, but milk was.

All newspapers were delivered by boys and all boys delivered newspapers -- my brother delivered a newspaper, six days a week. It cost 7 cents a paper, of which he got to keep 2 cents. He had to get up at 6 A.M. every morning. On Saturday, he had to collect the 42 cents from his customers. His favorite customers were the ones who gave him 50 cents and told him to keep the change. His least favorite customers were the ones who seemed to never be home on collection day.

Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the movies. There were no movie ratings because all movies were responsibly produced for everyone to enjoy viewing, without profanity or violence or most anything offensive.

Growing up isn't what it used to be, is it?

MEMORIES from a friend:

My Dad is cleaning out my grandmother's house and he brought me an old Royal Crown Cola bottle. In the bottle top was a stopper with a bunch of holes in it. I knew immediately what it was, but my daughter had no idea. She thought they had tried to make it a salt shaker or something. I knew it as the bottle that sat on the end of the ironing board to 'sprinkle' clothes with because we didn't have steam irons. Man, I am old.

How many do you remember?

Head lights dimmer switches on the floor.
Ignition switches on the dashboard.
Heaters mounted on the inside of the fire wall.
Real ice boxes.
Leg clips for bicycles without chain guards.
Soldering irons you heat on a gas burner.
Using hand signals for cars without turn signals.

The Featured Stamper this week is Nikki Schmaltz. What a beautiful gallery she has. I chose to CASE the card that you can see here.

Since my shoulder is hurting again I wanted to make a simple card. So I took out my handy-dandy DP (the one that I created with the Elements of Style stamp set). I have a little left, so be on the look out for another card with it.

I changed a few things -- embossing folder, ribbon, and nestie. I didn't use her corner punch, 'cuz I don't have it, and I added a few more pearls. I used my DP instead of doing the resist technique, but I think the essence of Nikki's beautiful card is still there.

Paper Players Challenge Week #1

I am so excited to tell you that today is our first challenge at Always Playing with Paper. Each Sunday there will be a new challenge. Then on Saturday the winners will be announced. The winner will receive a “Headliner” badge to proudly display on their BLOG. There will also be 3 honorable mention picks that will receive a “Cut Above” badge to proudly display on their BLOG.

The first week of each month will be a Theme challenge. This month’s challenge is to create a Masculine or Father’s Day project

I created this card for my Father-In-Law. Those of you who visit here know that Pop is up in heaven, but the boys like to give him a card anyway. We put the card in a plastic envelope and place it on his grave site. Brandon (my little one) says that way he can share it with his friends at the cemetery.

This time of year is crazy busy at work. Then throw in the end of school activities, and I am so behind on everything. I did make time to create a card for tomorrow's challenge on Always Playing with Paper. You have to wait until tomorrow to see my card, but here is a peek.

We do have a winner for the BLOG Candy. The boys printed off all the comments. They read them all to figured out who joined Lesley's site, and printed those ones again. They cut all of them up, and put them in a hat. The winner is ---- Joan from MN. This is the comment that she left:

Good News for Me and You.

The boys and I are going camping this weekend, so I won't be around. I am a glutton for punishment -- we are camping all but 3 weekends this summer.

I have been doing this little Blogging adventure for a while. It's been over 3 years, can you believe it. I started this BLOG on November 16, 2006, but I pretend I have 2 anniversaries. You see I submitted a card to my first challenge on May 27, 2007. That is the day that I consider to be my "going public" day. Before that day I don't think anyone knew I was out "there" -- except my Stampin' Ladies. OK, scratch that Allison knew I was out there. She is the one that encouraged me to "Join" the blog world. Love ya girlie!!

I do have some news to share. I am going to be on a Design Team -- Yep little ole me. I still can't believe it. Lesley, from Always Playing with Paper, is starting a new Design Team, and she asked me to play along. Go check out her site!! -- That's my GOOD news

Your GOOD news is that I will be doing BLOG CANDY this weekend. I am terrible about putting things in the mail, so I am going to make this easy for you and me. I will be awarding a $25 gift certificate to one lucky lady. The gift certificate will be to anywhere that you want. I don't want to get into trouble with SU, so no companies that compete with SU, but anywhere else is fine. Oh and the company needs to accept online orders, so I can buy the gift certificate online. I'm Still Here

I have a few minutes this morning before I need to take Brandon to school, so I thought I would pop in here for a second.

Whew, it's been crazy around here. My shoulder is a little better -- I think, but I haven't really been able to create anything. Things have been so busy with the end of school, and then my sister had surgery last week. I am happy to report that she is doing fine -- no worries there. Then to top everything off, work has banned us from blurfing at all. I usually spend my lunch time surfing, and now I can't -- bummer. So once again I need to apologize for not returning emails. I haven't been online all week, and this morning I have 417 emails to go through -- oh boy.

On to my card. I created this for several challenges. The CAS challenge last week CAS67 -- Shabby Chick, and then the Queen for the Day QFTD08 -- yes I am behind. Alles's was the Queen that week. I CASED her card that you can see here. I think it was for the TLC challenge --To Frame it Up -- too, but I don't remember.

Well it's official I REALLY overdid it today (ask Allison if you don't believe me). I think I am caught up with my comments and emails, but my shoulder is KILLING me. I spent the entire day on the computer -- I know dummy me, I will regret it later. I was able to create a card though. I had this puffy flower and the white frame already done, so I decided to use them.

Today's Featured Stamper is Cathleen aka Ctronia. WOW, Cathleen is one talented lady!! I had such a difficult time choosing which card to CASE there were so many absolutely stunning cards -- like 100, and I am NOT overestimating. You can see the card I CASEd here.

I changed a few things -- the DP, sentiment, the border punches, the ribbon, and I used a puffy flower instead of a silk one -- but it's still the same.

I have been away from here and stamping for about 2 weeks. Remember when I said that my shoulder was hurting? Well the doctors can’t figure out what is wrong, but they think I sprained it. So they wanted me to take a break from computer and stamping. Well I have no problem being away from the computer at work – LOL, but no blurfing – GASP.

I created this a card -- using the sketch challenge from Stamping 411 -- to see how my shoulder does. Today’s Inspiration challenge on SCS is from Two Lumps of Sugar. Wow!! There is so much inspiration on this site – so many patterns. I chose the apron that you can see here.

This card is also for the Queen for the Day challenge from yesterday. This weeks queen is Linda aka Hotwheels. She is such a sweetie. Congrats Linda – I hope you enjoy your week, you are so deserving of this award.

I took inspiration from both of these cards -- Card 1 and Card 2.

While I was camping with the boys I created this DP. I have several sheets of this, so you will probably be seeing a few cards with this color combo. I need to call this card Glitter -- there is glitter EVERYWHERE.

I don’t know how much I will be able to blurf, but I am going to try and return all the comments and emails this weekend.

I needed several Sympathy cards this week, so that means that I need to replenish my stash. You know you never want to create a sympathy card when you need one -- so it's always a good idea to have some on hand.

Today's Free 4 All challenge on SCS is flowers. I created this card a few days ago for the color challenge. I have been trying to create more simple cards to demonstrate for my Stampin' Ladies. I never thought I would say this, but simple cards are more difficult than the fancy ones. I'm not too crazy about this one, but it will do.

We are going camping this weekend -- oh Joy -- I guess this is what I get for having boys. I have uploaded a few cards for Saturday and Sunday, I just hope it works.

Today's color challenge is Ballet Blue, Old Olive and Barely Banana. I tried to do the teapot challenge too, but I just couldn't get it to work. I created 3 cards with the Upsy Daisy set, but they are in the recycle bin -- they were yucky. Hopefully I will have a chance again tomorrow. I really wanted to create a card for Roseanne, and her favorite flowers are daisies.

I used the sketch from this week's MOJO Monday challenge. I stamped the trees in Basic Black and then sponged around it with ballet blue, barely banana, and old olive. The sentiment is from the Three Little Words set. I masked it off to fit in the circles. The border punch is from EK success. I am hoping that it will be in the new catalog this summer.

Today's CAS challenge is to create a birthday card using orange. Yep you read that correctly -- ORANGE -- not my fav. Today is Jen's (aka Ms. Boo) birthday, and her favorite color is orange. Well orange can't be all that bad, 'cuz Jen is such a sweetie. So this one's for you Ms. Boo.

I do have to say that pumpkin pie is difficult to photograph. The white background kept turning grey-blue. I hope you can see this OK -- I took about 20 pictures, and this was the only one that was half way decent.

I think I saw something like this in one of my Paper Craft magazines, but I can't find the page. So this is probably a CASE, but I am not sure. I stamped the big flower and leaf outline from the Flower Fancy stamp set with pumpkin pie on pumpkin pie. I colored the center dots in with my white gel pen. I added one of my Earth Elements buttons to the sentiment. Never thought I would use the pumpkin ones -- so thanks to Jen for the challenge :o).

Today's Featured Stamper is Gloria aka GloriousGreetings. I know I say this every Sunday, but boy does she have a FANTASTIC gallery. So many wonderful cards to choose from. I saw that she has created 2 cards with my puffy flower tutorial, so I just had to CASE one of those -- don't ya think :o).

I chose to CASE this card that you can see here. I made a few changes. I made the flower out of the Nouveau Chic DP (I don't have the Night & Day one). Instead of the shapeabilites and the paper piercing, I embossed the white layer with the Elegant Bouquet folder. I colored the center's of the flowers and the scroll with my basic black marker. Then I added the ribbon, the lovely Black satin ribbon -- you have to order some of this ribbon it's so elegant :o) I love it.

This is for the Color, Way to Use It, Queen for the Day, and the Inspirational Challenges. Yep 4 challenges in one card. There is a reason for this -- I haven't stamped all week. I hurt my shoulder a few weeks ago, and I am having a difficult time using my right arm. Every time I try and use my mouse -- the computer one ;o)-- I am in terrible pain. So I haven't blurfed very much at all this week. I was hoping by not using the computer for an entire week that things would be better, but I am almost in tears typing this post. OK enough complaining.

The colors this week were Apricot Appeal, Basic Grey, and Sage Shadow. This DP is call Nouveau Chic, and it has all these colors in it. The Way to Use It challenge was to mix patterns, so I used different patterns of the same DP. The Queen for the Day this week is Cathleen aka ctorina. She is such a sweetie, she always leaves the nicest comments on my cards. I CASEd her card that you can see here. Lastly the Inspiration Challenge this week was Green Rainbow Shop. I drew my inspiration from this shirt and this Dog sweater. Both of them had Apricot and Sage in them.

I punched the stars out of DP and trimmed them a little so you could see the black layer behind them. I also used the new Black Satin ribbon -- I love this ribbon, it's so EASY to tie into a bow.

I have to make this quick, 'cuz I am finishing up our taxes -- Yes I waited until the last minute, dummy me.

Last week I saw this absolutely BEAUTIFUL card that Ann (The Stampin' Schach) created. Isn't it stunning? Well today I CASEd her card for the Sketch challenge and yesterday's Color challenge (Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom, and Close to Cocoa for dessert).

I used chocolate chip on my card, instead of basic black -- I think the black is better, but it didn't go with the color challenge. I stamped the image with Staz On Black and water colored my flowers with markers. I used a little green for the leaves -- I hope it still counts for the color challenge. Can you see the "DP" layer behind my image? I stamped the swirl on Vanilla CS and then embossed it with the new Textured folder from SU. I knew I was going to create my own DP with this embossing folder, but I didn't think about using this stamp until I saw Ann's card. Isn't she a genius? -- Can you tell I LOVE LOVE LOVE this card?

I haven't posted or created anything in a week. My RAK from June was supposed to post on Sunday, not Thursday -- wonder what happened there. Well at least you were able to see the BEAUTIFUL card that June created for little ole me.

Have you missed me? I missed you all. I have so many emails to return. Unfortunately I wasn't gone for a good reason. I had food poisoning -- YUCK YUCK YUCK. We are not absolutely sure where it came from, but we think it was some subs that we ordered last week. All 4 of us started getting sick last Thursday, and it was the only thing that all of us ate. Can I say YUCK again? I am not back to myself, still really weak, but I did create a card this afternoon. I really need to create some card for my stash, so when things get in the way I can still post something for you all.

This card is for the CAS challenge on SCS, and the sketch challenge on Stamping 411. I drew my inspiration from the postcard that you can see here. I think this is simple enough to qualify for the CAS challenge -- at least I hope so.

I need a guy birthday card, and I love using the sail boat from the Winds of Grace stamp set for guy cards. I colored the image with my SU markers, and then used a blender pen to soften it. I used my Parisian Breeze DP -- Did ya hear that SU is bringing back some of the retired In-Colors? I LOVE LOVE LOVE Baja Breeze -- don't you? Do you think they can bring back this DP too -- I think it is one of my all time favorites? The sentiment is from a retired Hostess set (I don't remember the name -- sorry).

CC265 ~ Color Challenge Sample

I came home from my parents on Sunday, and I had 244 emails waiting for me. One of them was a PM from Betty, the Color Challenge Hostess on SCS. She wanted to know if I would be interested in creating a sample for the challenge this week. I was so excited and scared to death at the same time. I think I read the email 3 times before I took a breath. I PM'd her back to tell her that I would be honored to create a card for the challenge. Then she sent me the colors -- Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, and Soft Suede. The dessert option was to use your crimper.

Can you say OH NO? What was I going to create with these colors? I had no idea -- NOTHING was popping in my head. I hadn't created a card in several days, and I find that my MOJO slips away if I don't create a card every day. Does that happen to you? I decided to stop stressing, and wait until the morning. Then I thought what would be better to start my MOJO moving than the sketch from the MOJO Monday site? So as you can see I created this card with this week's MOJO Monday Sketch.

I flipped the sketch, but it's still the same. The turquoise and celery layers are from the Flocked Together DP. I used the crimper on the vertical piece. The crimper makes the DP look like ribbon IRL. I created a Puffy Flower, since I am truly addicted to these flowers -- I know I need to go to puffy flower rehab :o).

I was having a difficult time with this sketch (no puffy flowers for this one -- *wink* *wink*). I couldn't think of a stamp set to use that wasn't flowers, and I am not in a flower mood today. I thought that the CAS challenge this morning was going to be an Easter card. So I cheated and created this card last night -- I know shame on me. Things have been so busy lately that I wanted to get a head start. Well wouldn't you know we are not creating Easter cards -- the challenge today was a sketch challenge. I guess God was letting me know that I am not supposed to do that :o).

The good thing is that this card qualifies for the Color Challenge on LPS. The colors this week are Kraft, Chocolate, and Yellow. I CASEd the card on page 43 of the Mini catalog. I used Barely Banana instead of the Bashful Blue. I changed the embossing folder and the background shape, but it is basically the same. Can you see that I colored the dots in the flowers chocolate and the dots around the flowers white? I'm not sure if the white dots are showing up very well, but they are IRL. I embossed the bunny on Kraft CS, in case you were wondering where my Kraft layer is.

Well here is my card for the CAS challenge. I wanted to redo my card from last week, so I guess this sketch was a good thing. I used Navy, Red and White. These are the colors for my oldest son's Wrestling team. I wanted to make cards for the boys for their banquet, and I thought these would be good for teen-age boys. What do you think? Should I take out the Kraft layer and only use white?

WOW this has been one busy week. Then throw in the problems on SCS with the upgrade to their server, I haven't had time to do much blurfing or stamping. I am hoping to get caught up next week when the boys are at my Mom's.

This card is for the Inspirational challenge and the Queeen for the Day Challenges on SCS. This week's Inspiration is from Thyme. As always Stef finds some fantastic inspiration -- I don't know how she does it every week. I chose to grab my inspiration from this bath salt envelope. This card is also for the Queen for the Day Challenge. This week's Queen is Pat Smethers. You have to go look at her gallery, it is AMAZING. I chose to card this card.

I used the retired hostess stamp set called Echoes of Kindness. This is one of the sets that I HAD to have, and I have never inked it up. Well I think I'll will need to ink it up more, this flower is so pretty. I colored the flower in with inks and a blender pen. I kinda like the grey on the stems and leaves -- what do you think?

Yep I did it again -- another puffy flower. Are you sick of these yet? You knew I was going to create one of these when you saw the sketch didn't you? I guess I am getting good at making these flowers. I was able to throw this card together in 17 minutes.

Several of you have asked me whether I have tried mailing these cards. Well the answer is no, but I am going to try. I ordered the padded envelopes and the treat cups from the Occasions mini. I think that these flowers will fit in those cups. I am going to mail the card to myself to see how this works. I'll let you know the results.

Does anyone know what's up with SCS? I thought that they had fixed everything, but I think things are still a little wonky over there.

This card is for the Color, Sketch and Inspiration Challenges. The colors are Dusty Durango, Pretty in Pink, Creamy Caramel. I bet you are wondering where the caramel is. Look closely at the dry embossed flowers on the Durango layer. I colored the centers with the Creamy Caramel marker.

There is a new challenge on SCS. It is call Queen for the Day. Anne Ryan came up with this challenge, it is another way that the members of SCS can acknowledge some really great ladies. This week's Queen is Peggy. She is a wonderful lady!! She has left many really nice comments on my cards. I chose to CASE this card from Peggy's beautiful gallery. I used blues instead of yellows, 'cuz Blue is Peggy's favorite color.

Today's Free for All challenge was a basket with Perfect Plum, Barely Banana, and Certainly Celery. It could be a 3D basket or an image of a basket, but you had to use these colors.

I used a 6" x 6" piece of shades of spring DP to create this little basket. The ribbon is Certainly Celery, and the tag used Perfect Plum and Barely Banana. These baskets are so cute and you can make them in all sizes.

All these days filled with sunshine have been wonderful!!! I am really a summer type of girl -- not a snowy winter type. The kids and I have been having a blast outside, but it has put a damper on my stamping and blurfing. I promise to return emails and comments soon :o).

When I saw the sketch challenge this morning, I knew I was going to create another Puffy Flower card. I mean this sketch was calling for a puffy flower -- don't ya think ;o). The only question I had was which DP to use. I normally would reach for the Cottage Wall DP, (I just love it), but I created a card with it yesterday. So then I thought about this DP -- Flocked Together. I don't think I have used any of this paper, and it is beautiful too.

The Inspiration Challenge on SCS is from the Warm Biscuit Bedding Company. There are so many beautiful fabrics on this site. I was inspired by the one you can see here. I used the sketch from today's challenge on Stamping 411.

I was able to use many scraps of DP and CS on this card -- gotta love that! I used the vine from Vintage Vogue to stamp the background of the sentiment layer. I thought that it went well with this DP.

Yesterday was one LONG day. It was County finals in Wrestling for my oldest. We left the house at 7:00 am and did not return home until 8:30 pm. Let me tell you something bleachers are HARD. My rear end still hurts!! Justin does not like me saying anything about him on my BLOG, but I am so proud of him!! I am pleased to announce that he did so well in Counties that he is going to the State Championship!! I guess that means my rear will be aching next Monday too.

DH took about 50 cards to work with him to raise money for the United Way campaign. I am happy to report that almost all of them are gone. Now everyone at his work knows that I create cards -- oh boy. One of the ladies is a Real Estate Agent on the side, so she asked me to create several cards for her. I wanted to make these on the simple side and not too feminine. So I thought I would use my Welcome Home DP.

The Way to Use It Challenge on SCS is to create a card that is game or puzzle oriented. I think we are allowed to do sports -- at least I hope so. Is Snowboarding a game? I am sure my boys would say yes, but who knows.

I need more teen boy birthday cards. Boy cards are not as fun as girls cards, but they are challenging me to create nice cards without bling. I decided to use my Extreme Snowboard stamp, that I just HAD to have. I saw a card that Michelle Zindorf created and I ordered this stamp the very next day -- and that was months ago. Does that happen to you all too?

I haven't created anything in a few days. When this happens, my MOJO is usually very slow to come back. I thought doing a CASE card would be a good idea to boost my MOJO. I also thought that I would do a puffy flower card, since I love them so much. I love the ones made with DP, but I must say that the ones that I have created with Velum are my most favorite.

I chose to CASE this card. This is a flap card, you can see the tutorial for these cards here. I changed the colors, stamps, and flower, but the layout is the same. My card is 4-1/4 x 4-1/4, the tutorial shows you a thinner card.

ETA: Yippee!! Connie (from Stampin Frogs Creative Journey) found the tutorial on SCS for me -- Thanks so much Connie!! I knew it was there, I just couldn't find it. You can find it here.

You can make this basket with card stock or double sided designer paper. If you are going to put anything in it that has some weight I would suggest creating the card stock one. Mine was created with 12 x 12 card stock scored at 4" on each side. You can make it with a 9 x 9 piece, just score it at 3" on each side, or you can make it with a 6 x 6 piece scored at 2" on each side.

Warning: The pictures are kinda off 'cuz of the shape of the basket, but I think you will get the idea.

I created this basket on Monday for the It's In the Pieces -- Try a New Technique challenge. I believe the tutorial is on SCS, but I cannot find it right now, and as you know I have limited time this week with Brandon being sick.

You can make this out of 6", 9" or 12" square of card stock or DP. I made this one out of 12" x 12" Whisper White CS, and then decorated each square with Petals and Paisley DP.

Brandon being sick has really put a cramp in my blogging and blurfing. I haven't been able to return comments or emails. I promise to get back to you as soon as I can.

This card is one that I created early this week for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I took pictures of it, but I haven't had a chance to post it.

I stamped the medallion from the Friends 24-7 set on the Kraft layer and then stamped the sentiment from the Thoughts and Prayers set over top of it. I really like this combination. The DP is retire :o( it's call Parisian Breeze. The little adhesive dots are from a Halloween package that I picked up at the LPS.

Brandon is sick, and I had a migraine so I think my mojo is GONE. I am not really wowed by this card, but it's nice. I will probably do another card, but I thought you might like to see this one.

I could not think of anything to create with these Olympic colors, so I decided to try another teen boy card. This DP originally started out with white circles with silver glitter. I took markers and colored in the circles, and you can still see the glitter. This made it so I was able to do Event Five (use all five Olympic colors) and one neutral, with the dessert option (metallic) too.
